  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
Optional Toppings
  • Whipped cream
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Crushed peppermint
  • Cinnamon

Method
 

  1. Heat the milk and heavy cream over medium-low heat until steaming.
  2. Whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add the chopped chocolate and stir until completely melted.
  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with your favorite garnishes. Serve immediately.
